I'm sick of this crap

Here we freakin go again. A bunch of parents want to sanitize the whole world because they are too freakin lazy to parent their own d*mn children.

If you're going to have children, then YOU need to be responsible for them, not me, not the government.. *YOU*, *YOU*, *YOU*.

I'm sick of the air waves being regulated to protect your miserable brat from "sexually explicit material", when it's been proven over and over that the thing that really matters is the PARENTING. If the PARENT doesn't teach precious little Jamie to keep from getting pregnant, not seeing scary bad naked people on TV will do nothing to prevent it either.

Now the parents want to control video games.

Here's an idea ... READ THE LABEL BEFORE YOU BUY YOUR MONSTER THE NEXT THING HE POINTS AT. What is the matter with just saying "no"?

Honestly I think that as a society we need to accept the responsibility for the children, all children. We need to recognize that as long as their aren't stricter rules on who can have kids, most people aren't good parents. The children of the world are practically orphans, even if they live with their parents, because those parents are immature and selfish children themselves. We might want and expect people to take care of their own kids, but the truth is, they don't, and they aren't likely to start. So we need to consider how we want these kids to grow up to behave, being raised without any supervision.

It takes a village to raise a child.

Ah yes, but sanitizing the world is not the answer, it's just easier to do than forcing parents to become responsible or giving the children to someone who will be responsible.
I'm tired of my rights being eroded because it's easier than really solving the problem.
I think the sanitization is actually making the problem worse, it just allows parents to feel less responsible than they already do. They keep trying to shove the burden of parenting onto the government or society.
I personally refuse to be responsible for children that I have no say in creating. The day that I get a vote on who is allowed to be a parent and who isn't, then I will happily be a part of that 'village' you speak of.

Until then, "your choice, your resposibility" is my motto.

I am not saying that the few responsible parents should have to censor the world. Their attention and energy would be better spent changing laws on who is allowed to have children and what requirements of responsibility should be placed on potential parents, and/or creating parenting classes and laws that punish those who aren't responsible parents. Not those who ARE, and not the general public, as you said.

What I don't get about this whole scenario :

- Rockstar says (cue Butthead voice) : "huh-huh, huh-huh, a sex game would be COOL in our next game."
- Rockstar puts in a sex game.
- Some Rockstar manager (cue Beavis voice) : "How the hell are we supposed to pass ESRB ratings with this?"
- So they disable the game. This means that without violating the software license, you will never see the game.
- The game, in "sex-game disabled" mode, gets an ESRB rating of (what-the-hell-ever-it-got).
- The game goes on sale. Please note that the sex game is STILL disabled.
- Some dude starts poking at the save-game files and reactivates the sex game.
- SCANDAL! OUTRAGE! HOW DARE THEY PUT IN A SEX GAME!

They put in a sex game, yes. They took it out, yes. Some clever Fool bypassed the removal, yes. Is this Rockstar's fault?

In the same way as "no lifeguard on duty" means "sue me for millions please."
